In June 2009, AWDF organized the BUSH MEAT workshop in collaboration with Bush meat.org. The workshop was organized as an open discussion with people from Central Africa who are consumers of bush meat. The Discussions aimed at establishing the cultural experience of foods to Africans and what part Bush meat plays in their diet.
Officials from Bushmeat.Org were in Atlanta to facilitate the discussions.

Three focus groups were held on two different days. One group of all women, one group of all men and one mixed group of men and women. The workshop went very smoothly, several participants signed up for the workshop and were given a participation incentive of $50 each.
Findings on the deliberations of the focus group would be shared after the data has been analyzed. Findings also help the organization to advice on policies concerning the environment.
